Working from home - how do I love thee? Let me count the ways

Whenever possible, I work from home on a Friday.
In every way a working-from-home day is better than a working-in-the-office day.
Let me count the ways
(with thanks to the very fine Bag Lady for suggesting a 10 things post)
1) I can get dressed in the daylight. This might not seem like a big deal, but some of you who perhaps are increasing in years, might recognise and understand my growing inability to differentiate between purple and brown clothes. This has led me to turning up at work in some interesting colour combinations recently.
2)I do not have to go anywhere near the M25 or the Dartford tunnel. I like to think that me not being there will make someone else's journey just a little bit better.
3) Martin the cat has some interesting contributions to make to my otherwise solitary working-from-home meetings.
4) I get to spend the morning with my grumpy student daughter until she recovers from her hangover.
5) My work mobile has no network coverage where I live, but my personal mobile works just fine.
6) I can work, tweet, read blogs, work, tweet, read blogs, work, tweet, read blogs and still get more done than I do in 9 hours in the office.
7) I get to eat a Pot Noodle for lunch without anyone knowing about it... except all of you now.
8) I can have a bath in the middle of the afternoon.
9)I can respond to e-mails and watch Midsomer Murders at the same time.
10) I get to be at home before Philip, which doesn't ever happen on days I'm in the office. I get to be here, when he comes in all smiley from his regular Friday quick beer after work, and then we get to start the weekend.
Properly. Together.

Baglady - now there's a list - 10 things you know you shouldn't eat, but do...

I've never had a Pot Noodle. Am I missing out?

I work from home everyday and you're Friday's sound much more golden then mine. I can, however, watch instant movies on netflix while I'm working...which is a wonderful bonus.

I also have to write and respond to emails with a child on my lap most of the day.

Not so wonderful.

I love working from home on the odd occasion I get to do it. Like you say, you end up getting loads of work done and yet still having fun!

I work from home 2 days out of 5, and agree with all of the above. Add the joys of surfing the net in your PJs and not having to put my face on or look respectable.

I miss working from home! Could mostly skip the pot noodle.......but on very rare occasions it's a guiltly pleasure.

Pat - aah, the joys of a pot noodle...I think it's a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. But on the basis that you should only regret the things you don't do, I'd say go for it.

Erin - are you ever tempted to let the child write the e-mails for you? Could be interesting!

Philip - what can I say, other than you should stop denying yourself a true pleasure...

Happy Frog - I do get loads done, but I still feel a bit guilty when I sit here with the TV on in the background.

She means well - completely agree - although I feel a bit scummy when it gets to teatime and I'm still not dressed...

Liz - oh heck - another translation job! A pot noodle is exactly what it says - noodles in a pot. They're dried and you pour boiling water on, then eat from the pot - nutritious and delicious. Or not. Depends on where you're coming from and your views on healthy eating...(ignore all the derogatory comments from others, but see Louba's above, she is right about the guilty pleasure)

Caterpillar - hello and welcome - thank you for leaving a comment. I know I'm lucky to be able to work from home regularly.

Louba - hello to you too. There is something inherently good about eating something you really shouldn't.

I hope you don't mind me borrowing this idea, agree with your list but I might add my Cali touch. Thanks!

Shopgirl - go ahead, I look forward to reading your list!
